Eduardo Perez Sentenced to 15 Years for Robbery, Indecent Exposure, and Providing False ID to a Peace Officer

On June 9, 2025, Judge Jacot sentenced Eduardo Perez to 15 years in state prison.

Perez was found guilty following Jury trial on January 17, 2025, of a felony violation of Robbery, and Misdemeanor violations of PC 314.1 (Indecent Exposure) and 148.9 (False ID to Peace Officer and was sentenced to 15 years.

On August 26, 2024, Perez entered a business in Stockton and proceeded directly to the beverage aisle, where he selected three sodas. He then attempted to exit the store without paying. The on-duty clerk confronted him, successfully retrieving two of the sodas, and demanded that he return the third, which he had concealed in his back pocket. In response, the defendant began yelling at the clerk as she repeatedly asked for the soda. During the confrontation, the defendant exposed himself, causing the clerk to become fearful and retreat behind the counter. At that point, the defendant re-concealed his private parts, took back the remaining sodas from the counter, and fled the store.

The defendant was contacted by Sheriff's Deputies and falsely identified himself while still in possession of recently stolen items. His deception was immediately uncovered, as a Deputy—formerly a Corrections Officer with the Sheriff's Department—recognized the defendant from a prior extended period of incarceration related to a homicide conviction.

“Yesterday’s 15-year state prison sentence reflects the serious and escalating nature of the defendant’s criminal conduct.” Said District Attorney Ron Freitas.  “His actions showed a clear disregard for the safety and dignity of our community. Thanks to the dedicated work of Deputy District Attorney Victor Bachand and our law enforcement partners, justice has been served, and our community is safer.”
