CHP Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of More Than 150 Pounds of Meth; Pheab Tem Arraigned

San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Announces Arraignment for Trafficking Over 150 Pounds of Methamphetamine.

On August 21, 2025, Pheab Tem was arrested for trafficking more than 150 pounds of methamphetamine following a routine traffic stop conducted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Valley Division.

During the traffic stop, CHP K9 Nico alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, prompting a probable cause search. Officers discovered two duffel bags containing over 150 pounds of methamphetamine inside Tem’s vehicle.
Tem was arraigned this afternoon in Department 8C of the San Joaquin County Superior Court before the Honorable Judge Soldati.
Judge Soldati just set bail at $1.5 million and signed an order for examination of the source of bail (if the Defendant wants to post bail, there must be a hearing to show that the funds aren't the result of drug trafficking).

Tem’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 3, 2025, in Department 8C at 8:30 am.

District Attorney Ron Freitas praised the work of CHP Valley Division and their K9 unit, stating, “Seizing this amount of methamphetamine prevents a devastating influx of dangerous drugs into our communities. I want to thank CHP Valley Division and K9 Nico for their outstanding work and vigilance in keeping our county safe. Our office will continue to work with law enforcement to hold traffickers accountable and protect public safety.”
