San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Secures 24-Year Sentence for Child Sexual Abuse Offender
San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced that the Honorable Judge Soldati sentenced Timothy Gevock to 24 years in state prison for heinous crimes against a child. Gevock was convicted of one count of PC 288(b)(1) – lewd and lascivious acts involving a child under 14 years old with force, and one count of PC 288.5(a) – continuous sexual abuse of a minor. Both counts are classified as violent “super strikes,” requiring Gevock to register as a sex offender for life under PC 290.
The case, prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Lesley Scharmann and investigated by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department, revealed that Gevock began raping an immediate family member shortly after his release from federal prison, where he had served time for child pornography offenses.
District Attorney Ron Freitas commended the outcome, stating, “Our prosecutors fight so tirelessly every day to protect the most vulnerable among us, especially children. This 24-year sentence reflects our duty to securing justice for victims and holding predators accountable for their despicable actions. We will continue to pursue the maximum penalties to ensure our community is safe.”
The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office remains dedicated to advocating for victims and ensuring that those who commit such egregious crimes face severe consequences.
