DA’s Office Charges Two in 108-Pound Meth Trafficking Bust on I-5

San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announces that his office has filed charges against Jerica Anderson and Rochelle Beck following the California Highway Patrol’s seizure of approximately 108.75 pounds, more than 49 kilograms, of methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5.

On January 5, 2026, at approximately 3:18 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers conducted a traffic stop on northbound I-5 just south of Highway 12. The vehicle was occupied by driver Jerica Anderson and passenger Rochelle Beck. During the stop, officers noted conflicting stories from the two individuals regarding their travel origins and destination.

A CHP K9 unit was deployed to the scene, where the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed a bag containing approximately 108.75 pounds of methamphetamine, a massive quantity intended for distribution. The narcotics were confiscated, and both Anderson and Beck were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

The defendants were arraigned in San Joaquin County Superior Court, where the judge set bail at $150,000 for each.

“The California Highway Patrol’s excellent enforcement work resulted in the seizure of more than 108 pounds of methamphetamine from our highways,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “My office will not hesitate to use the law to its fullest extent to stop these traffickers and keep this poison out of our communities.”

The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office extends special thanks to the California Highway Patrol officers involved in this enforcement action and particularly to K9 Officer Hanks, (a very good boy!) whose alert was instrumental in uncovering this large quantity of narcotics.

Both defendants return to court on January 30, 2026.
