San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Secures 50-Year to Life Sentence in Multi-Victim Child Abuse Case
San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas announced that 43 year old Gerardo Antonio Garcia Aguilar has been sentenced to 50 years to life in state prison, following his conviction on five counts of lewd acts upon a minor. The sentencing, handed down by the Honorable Judge Villapudua, marks the conclusion of a case involving a nearly 20-year cycle of abuse against three separate victims.
The trial detailed a predatory pattern dating back to 2007, where Aguilar consistently exploited his role as a trusted adult and father figure to target children within his own household. In addition to the guilty verdicts, the jury previously found true special allegations regarding the victims' ages and the defendant’s gross violation of a position of trust.
“This sentencing holds a predator who systematically stole the innocence of children accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “This outcome is a testament to the incredible strength of the survivors who found the courage to come forward. Their bravery has turned the page on a chapter of darkness, proving that in this county, no predator is more powerful than the voices of those they tried to silence.”
District Attorney Freitas extended his gratitude to Deputy District Attorney Kristi Kooger for her tenacious prosecution, and to Stockton Police Detective Fernando Romero for his thorough investigation. He also recognized Victim Advocates Heidi Ramirez, Vanessa Elizondo, and Grace Abshear for providing the compassionate support necessary to guide the survivors through the judicial process.
