The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office announces a settlement in the case regarding 32-year-old Gerardo Velasquez Luque.
On June 23, 2023, Velasquez was stopped in a car on I5 by the California Highway Patrol for a traffic violation. A K9 trained in narcotics detection alerted to the vehicle.
A search of the car revealed hidden compartments in the back of the vehicle containing approximately 18 kilos of methamphetamine. Velasquez claimed to have no knowledge of the meth concealed in the back compartments.
Velasquez accepted a plea deal for 7 years on April 5, 2024, in Department 8A at the San Joaquin County Courthouse.
