San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office Announces Conviction and Sentencing of Gamoni Polk

The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office is pleased to announce the conviction and sentencing of Gamoni Polk, 24, of Oakland, for crimes committed in January of 2023. Polk robbed a victim of her rent money at gunpoint in Stockton.

During the incident, the victims, a couple working on their car in front of their home, were robbed at gunpoint. Polk was later found hiding under a nearby truck with cash identified by the victim and a black semiautomatic handgun nearby.

Following a jury trial, Polk was found guilty of five felony counts with enhancements, including robbery, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, criminal threats, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of ammunition.  Additionally, the Honorable Judge Hoyt found aggravating factors and a prior strike conviction for robbery in 2019.

The Stockton Police Department led the investigation, with Officer Alexander Clare serving as the investigating officer throughout the jury trial. The District Attorney’s Office also acknowledges the significant contributions of Melissa Zapien, who provided advocacy support, and Elizabeth Francesconi, whose assistance was invaluable.

“This sentence reflects the severity of Gamoni Polk’s actions and the trauma he inflicted on his victims,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by the lead prosecutor in this case, Kyle Harrison, and his incredible team. I also want to thank our partners at the Stockton Police Department, led by Chief McFadden for helping to secure this conviction. Justice has been served and our streets are safer for it.”

On June 17, 2024, in Department 8A, Judge Hoyt sentenced Polk to 28 years in state prison.  The San Joaquin District Attorney’s Office extends our gratitude to Judge Hoyt for ensuring that justice was served.
