Stockton - District Attorney Ron Freitas, and the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, announce that on September 9, 2024, Mikal Hall, 47, of Lodi, pled no contest to charges including possession of over one kilogram of methamphetamine for sale, possession of fentanyl for sale, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The charges stem from an October 19, 2023, traffic stop where Hall was found with fentanyl. A search of his residence led to the discovery of methamphetamine, Xanax pills, a loaded firearm, ammunition, and cash. Hall was already on warrant status for previous convictions and had been evading authorities for three years.
Judge Orcutt sentenced Hall to 11 years in state prison, to run consecutively with a 9-year sentence from prior cases, totaling 20 years.
District Attorney Ron Freitas extends sincere thanks to Judge Orcutt for her key role in this case. He also acknowledges Deputy Sheriff Steven Jacobson for his dogged determination throughout the investigation process, which was crucial in bringing Hall to justice. Additionally, Deputy District Attorney Jocelyn Weisbrich’s diligent work in prosecuting this case was vital for securing the conviction.
DA Freitas said, “This sentencing underscores my Office’s commitment to tackling the fentanyl crisis head-on. This resolution is a significant victory in our fight against the distribution of these deadly substances. We will continue to pursue justice with the same passion and determination that brought us to this successful outcome.”
