San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office Secures Life Sentence for Murderer of James and Mary Reiswig

Stockton, CA - On October 28, 2024, the Honorable Lance Jacot sentenced Christopher Lee Holland, 57, to life without the possibility of parole for the brutal murders of James and Mary Reiswig in 2020. A jury previously found Holland guilty on multiple counts, including two first-degree murder charges with special circumstances for multiple murders, robbery, and burglary.

District Attorney Ron Freitas acknowledged the profound impact on the Reiswig family: “Today’s life sentence reflects my Office’s duty to hold violent offenders fully accountable. Though no sentence can truly ease the pain felt by those who loved James and Mary, we hope this brings a measure of peace to their family and our community. Our hearts remain with the Reiswig family as they continue to mourn this unimaginable loss.”

The District Attorney’s Office extends its deepest gratitude to Deputy District Attorney Elton Grau, Paralegal Michelle Vargas, and Victim Witness Advocate Jessica Vanover for their steadfast dedication to this case. Special recognition also goes to Detective Antonio Cortez of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and Sheltri Grisham, James Hamiel, and Richard Johnson from the California Department of Justice for their invaluable investigative work. Their combined efforts were essential in bringing justice to the Reiswig family.

The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office remains staunchly devoted to protecting our community, standing with victims and families impacted by violent crime, and ensuring those who threaten our community’s safety are brought to justice.
