On July 2, 2025, Antonio Guzman Tolentino was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in state prison after entering No Contest pleas to felony drug trafficking and child endangerment charges stemming from a February traffic stop.
On February 15, 2025, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) conducted a traffic stop on Guzman Tolentino for multiple traffic violations. During the stop, a narcotics detection K9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Officers conducted a search and discovered 1,074.4 grams of heroin—more than one kilogram—hidden in the engine compartment.
Guzman Tolentino’s 12-year-old son was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop, prompting additional charges of child endangerment.
On July 2, Guzman Tolentino pleaded No Contest to felony transportation of heroin, including a weight enhancement for possessing over one kilogram of heroin, as well as felony child endangerment. The case was heard before Honorable Judge Northup, who sentenced the defendant to 5 years and 4 months in California state prison.
San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas issued the following statement:
“This case is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by narcotics trafficking—not only to our community but to the most vulnerable among us. Transporting a kilo of heroin with a child in the vehicle is both atrocious and criminal. My office will continue to prosecute these cases aggressively to protect our children and our neighborhoods. If you transport deadly drugs in our county, you will be caught, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
