between law enforcement and the community.” - Betsy Hodges
In March 2025, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers conducted a traffic stop on Jack Tone Road for a vehicle speeding. The driver, Jose Vallarta Olea, was found to be transporting narcotics after a K9 unit alerted to the presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 38 kilograms of methamphetamine, packaged in kilo-sized bricks and concealed in a hidden trunk compartment. A minor child was also present in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Olea later pleaded guilty to the following charges:
He was sentenced to 8 years in state prison.
“This case is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by large-scale drug trafficking,” said Ron Freitas, San Joaquin County District Attorney. “The presence of a child in the vehicle makes the conduct even more egregious. We are grateful to CHP for their vigilant enforcement that helped prevent these dangerous drugs from reaching our communities.”
The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to working with our law enforcement partners to combat narcotics trafficking and protect public safety.
