The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing of Jeam Carlos Bernal-Bojorquez in connection with a major fentanyl trafficking case.
On August 13, 2025, Bernal-Bojorquez was arrested following a traffic stop that led to the discovery of over one kilogram of powdered fentanyl—an amount equivalent to more than one million potentially lethal doses (a lethal dose is approximately 2 milligrams). He was arraigned shortly thereafter in the San Joaquin County Superior Court, Manteca Branch, where bail was set at $140,000.
On October 23, 2025, Bernal-Bojorquez pleaded no contest to transporting over one kilogram of fentanyl and admitted to the enhancement for possessing that amount. The Honorable Judge Northup sentenced him to four years in state prison.
District Attorney Ron Freitas emphasized the ongoing threat fentanyl poses to the community: “The quantity of fentanyl seized in this case is staggering — enough to kill every resident of our county,” said District Attorney Ron Freitas. “Each gram taken off the street is a life potentially saved. We will continue to fight relentlessly to keep this deadly drug out of our neighborhoods.”
The case was prosecuted by the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with local law enforcement partners.
