Robert Fuentez Pleads Guilty to Attempted Sexual Assault Charges, Faces State Prison Sentence and Lifetime Registration

Today, defendant Robert Fuentez pled guilty to two counts of attempted lewd acts upon a child (Penal Code §288(a)).

Under the terms of the negotiated plea agreement, Mr. Fuentez faces a four-year state prison sentence. The conviction constitutes two-strike offenses under California’s Three Strikes Law and requires lifetime sex offender registration pursuant to Penal Code §290.

Mr. Fuentez is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on February 17, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 7B. This hearing will occur following completion of a comprehensive Probation Report and a mandatory STAT 99 psychological risk assessment.
Under California law, attempted sexual assault offenses are generally served at 50%.

The charges stem from an incident where the defendant used electronic communication to contact an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. During the interaction, Mr. Fuentez sent multiple nude photographs, including one that thoughtfully provided its own metric reference, an optimistic 3 inches, and solicited nude photographs from the purported minor, and attempted to arrange a physical meeting. The defendant further requested that the intended victim bring two younger female cousins, aged 11 and 5, to the arranged meeting location.

Mr. Fuentez arrived at the agreed-upon location where he intended to commit the assaults on his kick scooter, wearing his helmet and knee pads (safety is important).

He was subsequently confronted by well-known internet personality JiDion, who was conducting a sting operation aimed at identifying and exposing individuals attempting to engage in sexual contact with minors. During this encounter, Mr. Fuentez provided a full confession and admitted to having a large stash of material depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.

Mr. Fuentez then voluntarily accepted a ride to the Stockton Police Department to turn himself in. Officers took custody of him. After being read his Miranda rights, he again provided a full and voluntary confession to all the crimes.
"This outcome reflects our office's unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community and holding sexual predators accountable for their heinous actions. We will continue to fight vigorously for victims throughout all stages of the criminal justice process to ensure the safety and security of neighborhoods in every corner of San Joaquin County." said District Attorney Ron Freitas
